One of the most historical weddings occurred at the Westminster Abbey in London on Sunday, May 20, 2011, complete with 1900 guests. Televised worldwide, almost 23 million people tuned in to view the ceremony. Prince William and Kate turned to royal party planner and Hollywood party planner Lady Elizabeth Anson to coordinate this famous wedding. Founder of the London-based events company, Party Planners, Anson planned both the wedding and the reception, which was hosted by Queen Elizabeth. Today, we would like to learn more about the royal wedding planner who successfully carried out one of the most famous weddings in history without losing her mind:
Lady Elizabeth’s Famous Clientele
It is rumored that Queen Elizabeth fully trusted Lady Elizabeth to plan the royal wedding following her flawless execution of the Queen’s 80th birthday party and many other parties. Over the years, high-profile clients, including Mick Jagger, Sting, Tom Cruise, Bill Clinton, and Valentino have all turned to Lady Elizabeth for event planning.
Not Her First Royal Wedding
Planning one of the most famous weddings in history could be the most stressful undertaking of all time, but Lady Elizabeth had the details under control. She already planned an equally famous wedding in 1981, the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The Duke and Duchess of York also entrusted Lady Elizabeth with planning their 1986 wedding at Claridges as well.
Lady Elizabeth’s Event Themes
No event, wedding or otherwise, is too over-the-top or decadent for Lady Elizabeth to coordinate. In fact, she loves to organize theme parties for her high-end clientele. In 2001, she organized an extravagant pre-French Revolution party at the Kensington Palace for the Windsor family complete with fancy dress attire.
Two Royal Wedding Receptions
In 2011, William and Kate held not one but two wedding receptions. The first wedding reception was a more formal affair, a luncheon hosted by Queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace. Prince Charles stole the show when he gave both an emotional and funny speech to the 650 guests.
Only about 300 guests attended the second reception, which was also held in the Buckingham Palace. Decorated with stunning white floral arrangements and an impressive array of decadent candles, this reception had a more intimate feel. Later on in the evening, guests moved into the Throne Room to let loose with some drinking and dancing. Ellie Goulding performed for the royal couple until it was time to watch the fireworks.
No Signs Of Slowing Down
Although Lady Elizabeth has planned weddings and events since the 1960s, she shows no signs of slowing down. Truly passionate about planning events, retirement is simply not an option for Lady Elizabeth.
